The results of baseball
games are often affected by the style of the home plate umpire. Some
umpires have larger strike zones which favor the pitcher, thus
reducing the number of walks and hits in a game and creating lower
score totals. In addition, some umpires are often considered
"homers". i.e. The home team tends to win a majority of
the games they ump.
Listed below are the
current season results and average game statistics for all active
umpires in games where they were behind the plate. Note: The Game
stats are per game averages combining both the home and visiting
team's statistics.
