2009 NFL  Pre-Season Schedule, Prime Time Schedule and Team Schedules

2009 NFL on FOX TV schedule

NFL ON FOX KICKS-OFF SWEET 16th SEASON ON SEPT. 13th

2009 NFL on FOX season includes 65 games featuring last season's NFC playoff teams

NFC champion Arizona Cardinals featured 11 Times; NFC powerhouses Giants & Cowboys make nine appearances each

The 16th season of the NFL on FOX premieres Sunday, Sept. 13 with doubleheader coverage of seven games anchored by Eli Manning and the NFC East Champion New York Giants hosting their division rival Washington Redskins in the late afternoon. Throughout the day, Week 1 action showcases several of the NFL's biggest stars and new head coaches including Steve Smith and the NFC South Champion Carolina Panthers hosting Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, first-year head coach Raheem Morris and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys; All-Pro RB Adrian Peterson and NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings visiting Cleveland to take on Eric Mangini and the Browns and Kurt Warner and the defending NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals hosting the San Francisco 49ers.

At present, FOX Sports is scheduled to broadcast 109 regular-season games, including nine doubleheader Sundays and the traditional Thanksgiving Day game which this year features an NFC North showdown as the Detroit Lions and their new head coach Jim Schwartz host Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at 12:30 p.m. ET.

NFL on FOX viewers can look forward to smash-mouth football on Sunday, Oct. 25 when the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, owners of the No. 1 ranked rushing defense in '08, host the NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings. Other key matchups on the NFL on FOX schedule include four NFC East clashes over six weeks beginning with Eli Manning and the New York Giants' trip to the City of Brotherly Love on Sunday, Nov. 1 when they look to avenge their '08 playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Later in the month, the Dallas Cowboys are at home for a clash with the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Nov. 22. On Sunday, Nov. 29 the Redskins travel to Philadelphia in hopes of shutting down Brian Westbrook and the Eagles running attack. Another pivotal NFC East showdown anchors FOX's Sunday, Dec. 6 doubleheader when Wade Phillips and the Dallas Cowboys travel to New York to face Tom Coughlin's New York Giants at 4:15 p.m. ET.

Each week, coverage begins with FOX NFL SUNDAY (12-1 p.m. ET/9-10 a.m. PT), America's most-watched pregame show for 15-straight years. Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw return as co-host alongside Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan, insider Jay Glazer and comedian Frank Caliendo. Since its premiere in September 1994, FOX NFL SUNDAY has won 19 Emmy Awards for its production and personalities, including four for Outstanding Studio Show.

In 2008, FOX Sports was once again the No. 1 NFL network, out-rating all other NFL rightsholders including the league's prime-time over-the-air package. Last season's average audience of 17.0 million makes it FOX's third most-watched season in fifteen years of covering the NFL. The NFC package on FOX out-rated the AFC package for the 14th-straight season.

For the second consecutive season, all NFL on FOX games are produced and broadcast in state-of-the-art HD beginning with three preseason broadcasts in August straight through coverage of the NFC's postseason.

The 2009 NFL on FOX season includes 65 games featuring last season's NFC playoff teams, including 11 games each featuring the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals and the NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings. The NFC South Champion Carolina Panthers and their division rival Atlanta Falcons each have 12 scheduled games. The NFC East Champion New York Giants along with the Dallas Cowboys appear nine times apiece while their division rival Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled for 10 games. FOX Sports' 2009 regular season schedule also includes two games featuring the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Once the playoff teams are determined, the NFL on FOX presents exclusive live postseason coverage, including an NFC Wild Card Game on Sunday, Jan. 10, the NFC Divisional Playoffs, Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17, and the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 24.

The NFL on FOX's 16th season of coverage begins with three prime-time preseason contests including America's first look at the Dallas Cowboys new state-of-the-art arena in Arlington on Friday, August 21 (8 p.m. ET). The Tennessee Titans, owners of the best regular season record in 2008 at 13-3, will be the first team to occupy the visitor's locker room of the new facility when they face the Cowboys. Additional preseason coverage on FOX Sports takes place on Thursday, August 20 (8 p.m. ET), when Peyton Manning and the Colts, led by new head coach Jim Caldwell host the Philadelphia Eagles. FOX Sports' final preseason broadcast comes Thursday, August 27 (8 p.m. ET) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the 2008 AFC East Champion Miami Dolphins.

David Hill and Ed Goren are the Executive Producers of the NFL on FOX. Bill Brown is Senior Producer and George Greenberg is Creative Director. Scott Ackerson is the Coordinating Producer of FOX NFL SUNDAY.
